Strengthening Regional Presence

CEC-DRC Sarl is the Democratic Republic of Congo subsidiary of Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC), established to strengthen CEC’s presence in the DRC market. The subsidiary focuses on marketing and prospecting activities targeting mining and industrial customers, including greenfield opportunities, which are expected to drive growth and resilience. Over the past few years, CEC has aggressively expanded its market share in the DRC, positioning itself as a major player in the region. The DRC business has become a significant contributor to CEC’s revenue and profitability, aligning with the company’s strategic focus on regional and international markets while maintaining strong operations in Zambia.

CEC’s operations in the DRC are bolstered by its unique position as the operator of a key transmission interconnector between Southern Africa and the DRC, jointly managed with Société Nationale d’Électricité. This infrastructure is critical for regional power trade through the Southern African Power Pool. The DRC segment represents a vital component of CEC’s plans with the subsidiary playing a central role in leveraging opportunities in the minerals and energy sectors to achieve long-term financial and operational growth.
